Haze Machine Hire
Haze Machine Hire, also known as hazers, are special effect machines that produce an unobtrusive cloud of fine mist suspended in the air intended to highlight lighting beams and create a subtle atmosphere in venues. They use a fan to disperse the vaporized fluid creating a less obtrusive effect than a smoke machine.
Unlike smoke or fog machines, which are powered by heating a liquid to produce smoke, haze machines produce a fine mist using a compressor system that atomizes the liquid without any heat. This produces significantly smaller particles, which makes them much less likely to trigger fire detection systems compared to conventional theatrical smoke. The haze created by these machines is very light, creating an unobtrusive atmosphere in venues and can last for hours, or even all night long.

Most modern haze machines use water based haze fluid (often a combination of water and glycol) rather than oil based variants. Water based hazes have reduced hang-times and dissipate slightly quicker, resulting in a more ‘cloud-like’ effect. They are however still prone to activating smoke detectors, especially those with specialist hydrocarbon sensors which are often found in larger arenas and theatres.
Our hazer, the Prolight Hurricane 1DX, uses a high-capacity tank of liquid that will run continuously for hours, with adjustable blower strength and haze density. It can be controlled via DMX or in stand-alone mode, with a low fluid indicator that shuts the unit down when it’s empty.
